Top Cats, Thailand Fishing Holidays

Thailand has a huge selection of holiday fishing venues with monster fish.

Like in the UK you have some well-known commercialised venues like Jurassic and Ghillhams. Generally, these places have the ‘gloss’ like the big UK venues, but many of the other resorts you might not have heard of go quietly under the radar, stocking some incredible, often bigger and more varied fish, Top Cats is one of those.

The onsite guides will help you if needed, but my biggest tip is always listen and try to cast and bait in the same places

Like most venues in Thailand or other holiday resorts over the World, most use the tackle and bait provided as the fish are used to seeing it.

If you listen to the guides, sit back and relax and get ready for the action you will put fish on the bank.

I’d advise you you use one boilie and one particle set up, then switch to a dead bait predator rod as the sun starts to go down as they feed far more actively later in the day.

Don’t be afraid to try some rigs like you’d use at home, a snowman has produced well at Top Cats in the past.

Top Cats provide everything you will need onsite and do insist on using our tackle and bait so we know it’s up to the job.

You can bring and use your own end tackle and pop ups as long as approved by the guides on site.

Fish Safety and Water Quality are paramount for Top Cats so they are very protective about the baits and rigs used, bait is provided onsite.

Most swims produce all day, there isn’t really a ‘hot’ spot but there is a dedicated arapaima peg that always produces these prehistoric beasts in good numbers, you can book this spot at a premium.

Because of the climate, which rarely drops below 30 degrees, the fishing is good year round, though they do feed heavier in the rainy season.

All tackle, equipment and bait is provided and available on site so you don’t need to take anything with you, that said accessories like a boilie grinder and hook sharpener are always useful to take as an edge.

Like most venues in Thailand, Top Cats has a really community feel, it’s a holiday resort after all and the vibe is very casual.

Generally, if you fish in Thailand once, you will do several times, it’s a real ‘drug’ and one that many chase every year.
