Forest Lake, France
Forest Lake
The Forest Lake is 4.5 acres in size and is a well established fishery set in stunning countryside in the heart of the Limousine region.
It was first dug in the early part of the 20th century.
The lake is not your average Farm hole in the ground; it is full of features and varies in depth from 3-12 ft. The bottom is mainly gravel and sand along with pockets of silt, it is also weed free
The lake is spring fed and is of exceptional water quality which goes some way towards the stunning condition of the fish.
There are around 120 fish in the lake; with 10 fish over 60, 20 fish over 50 and the majority of the rest are 30 and 40 pounders
Lake info
There are around 120 fish in the lake; with 10 fish over 60, 20 fish over 50 and the majority of the rest are 30 and 40 pounders. They are royal strain of carp, and are in superb condition – fighting fit in fact.
The swims have been constructed to be comfortable with special landing platforms to make netting your fish a thing of ease. They also have plenty of space for your bivvy.
There has been a new lodge built to replace the existing one, of which is fully equipped with facilities – shower, toilet, kitchen etc to make your stay more enjoyable.
The lake is run by anglers for anglers and no-body is disappointed with the quality and size of the fish or the amenities you will I think be hard pushed to find another small water in France with this quality of fishing.
The fishing
The fish can be caught on a multitude of methods, although small, tight parcels of bait work particularly well dropped via the bait boat. Sometimes they can be wary of same sized baits so we recommend that you mix them up a bit – some 10mm, 15mm, maybe some barrels too.
Finding the fish can be pretty straightforward, because they like to sheet up each morning sending obvious bubbles to the surface of the water.
It can get very hot in the summer so make sure you can seek some shade.
