Manvell Farm Fishery Key Details
Manvell Farm, Walgrave
Manvell farm would be a lovely carp lake for a few hours fishing if only it wasn’t the size of your garden pond.
It is very small and so if there is more than 3 or 4 anglers on the lake the only options you have are to fish under your rod tops.
Not the place for someone looking for serious carp fishing.
What do I need to know?
The lake does have some nice fish, with several 30’s being caught – one being landed on the pole – and a great selection of koi and ghost carp that provide good zig fishing sport.
If you are after a few hours of sport on a summers evening or are a beginner looking for a bend in the rod and to set up camp for a few days somewhere comfortable, Manvell farm is for you.
You can surface fish Manvell, which is always productive, but you need to be careful of the birdlife.
The margins are the most fruitful spots with a small PVA stick with a nutty or meat mix and a wafter on the hair will work well.
Pop ups have never accounted for many fish here so put your baits on the deck or use zigs.
The lake is only 10-15m’s across at the largest so it is all margin fishing, so think about being quiet with small tidy rigs and bring a tin of meat and a few worms for a good days sport.
Don’t go to the Manvell without these:
Chappers
