Willen Lakes are part of the Parks Trust and is therefore a very public lake set in Central Milton Keynes.
It is a huge lake with a large area of out of bounds and not for the faint hearted. There are however some absolute gems to be had.
This is NOT a quiet pit, so if you’re prepared to go against the hustle and bustle, the rewards are there.
The North Lake is far quieter than the south so if you are looking for a spot of peace and quiet, then the North could be for you.
The North Lake is a bit of an unknown quantity mainly due to the resident otters that inhabit the island.
They have been a real problem the last few years and have definitely taken a few of its prized carp, but the amount of fish and which ones is anyone’s guess.
There could be some real gems lurking in there still, but it definitely fortunes the brave.
It is a huge effort water, low stock, and due to the out of bounds sections makes it very difficult to locate the fish.
The island is an obvious feature to target because the fish patrol the margins and there are carpy-looking drop-offs that can be seen from the bank.

The weed can be horrendous during the summer months so a weed rake is definitely recommended as is some pre baiting to try and get fish cleaning the spots.
